When you start growing a new beard, the hair is somehat stiff and when it bends toward the skin and rubs on it, there is irritation. This irritation usually results in itchiness but I can see it might also cause some redness. This condition will last until the skin gets accustomed to the irritation and this can be anywhere from couple of days to couple of weeks. Jojoba oil might help the skin condition and since you'll need this for your beard later on, you might as well buy it and try it. Bluebirds makes a beard saver product which they recommend for itchiness and it contains aloe amoung other things. It may be worth to apply a small amount of a product with aloe on the irritated skin.  And of course, once you get back to beard growing, we want to see what your beard looks like. Good luck.
