I am a 6'1", 150 lb. man. I am not especially aggressive or domineering. I am "lanky," if you want to call it that. However, since I have grown my beard, I haven't had to break eye contact first in months. I don't get hard looks from bald-faced pretty boys. Even gangbangers don't stare. Call it braggadocio, but I'm dead serious. I'm not a badass by any stretch of the imagination, but my beard says "Don't f*** with me." Other bearded men give me small, barely perceptible nods of approval, (as it should be, men don't generally make a big show of admiring each other.) I thought it was in my head, but it happens way too often to be coincidence. However, I have noticed a shift in the sort of women I get attention from. When I was clean shaven, I would mostly see stares from girls (notice, "girls") aged 18-23. Sure, some of them are cute, but not women, by any stretch of the imagination. Now that I have a beard, I get the looks from women aged 27-35. Women walking the aisles of the grocery store with their bald-faced yuppie husbands in tow. They see the beard, and it triggers something primal in them. Please don't think I'm being vain, I'm sure this is the case for all amply bearded men! Women want men with beards, because we look savage. These women don't know if they like what they see or not, it goes against everything Hollywood and slick advertising has taught them, but they know that it stirs something! We look like we could chew that yuppie bald-face up and spit him out (whether or not we actually could!) Beards give us the perception of being tough, strong, leaders. Most heterosexual women want that! There's a reason kings wore beards! God bless the beard!
