IT,
You grow a great looking beard. What length are you going for? I have had my beard for 3 and a half summers. I started growing August 2008, and I find no problem with summer heat. A big upside is the beard covers a good portion of my face too - meaning less sunscreen. In fact, if I wear a ball cap, I really only have the tips of my ears in the sun. Also a damp beard gives a great cooling effect. Continued good luck.
