I haven't cut myself shaving since I started growing mine, and broken skin makes it easier to get all sorts of infections. Also, no more whisker burn to the target(s) of my affection! Seems like growing a beard is in itself a sign of good health since it takes proper nutrition, sufficient sleep, exercise and self-nurturing to grow a nice healthy beard. That's not to say every guy with a beard has six-pack abs, shops at Whole Foods, and has a personal trainer. It's just that when you're growing a beard, it's natural to look at what you can do to maximize it's potential.
