had a busy couple of weeks and have again neglected participation on the board.
Sorry for that. Thanks very much to all who took time to comment and encourage. I’ll just
drop a few week 10 pics to keep the continuity and then continue to the 11th
week update below.
all - be right back.

above, I’ve been too busy for anything board related but now I’m back. Sorry
for not replying to the kind comments – please know they’re still very much
appreciated. I have a lot of catching up to do with other guys’ threads.
approaching the 13 week mark, I’m sort of getting used to being bearded. Due to
the slow progress, I think I’ll keep going for a while, hopefully 6 months or
so. Still generally happy with how things are going. Although far from perfect,
I’ve come further than I ever imagined.
some reason the rear area just below the jawline awards me with a sort of Martin
Van Buren (link) slash Scrooge McDuck (link) look which, combined with cowlick
features, doesn’t please me (see pic below) . Don’t get me wrong, mutton chops are fine, just not
for me . I will use the 13 week mark coming up shortly as an appropriate
occasion to trim that and try cleaning the whole thing up a bit. Any tips or
links about how to go about a first-time-ever-patchy-beard trim would be highly
appreciated. I don’t know of any barbers – good or bad - in my area, so I’ll
try to have a go myself.
That's it for now, more pics below- as always, thanks so much for your support.
All the best,
Thomas / GreyDane

Paul, thanks very much for the trimming advice. I own a cheap beard trimmer,
but as per your recommendation, I think I’ll go with scissors. Wouldn’t want to
overdo it Would you be kind enough to post
the link to the video you mentioned? In any case, I will try to wait a couple of weeks more, until the 13 weeks have passed. I’m not planning on excessive trimming;
just that Van Buren (or is it Chester Arthur?) area, which really bothers me.
Thanks for commenting. It’s good to know that I’m not alone. I think trimming
that bit in a couple of weeks would make me more patient while waiting for
other areas to catch up. I took a look at your 5-months pics and I must say
your beard looks great! As for length, my instinct says ‘go longer’, maybe
because of my own limited potential . But to be honest, it looks really good as

Sir, You’re always welcome here Thanks for the kind words and advice.
It seems the votes are in favour of leaving it to gravity, although there can
also be reason in trimming very gently. Advice from such experienced gentlemen
should not be taken lightly! I will see how it goes over the next couple of
yes, the moustache! Very exiting feature – I like to play with mini handlebars
now and again; the wife likes it Do you know of any extra hold moustache
waxes available in Denmark? The one I have is Bear Family, which is nice but
only holds for an hour or so.
man-flu: Brings the old joke to mind “During childbirth, a woman can almost
experience the pain a man feels when he has a cold.”
Thanks for your kind words. Yeah, it’s strange; a little thing that annoys one
man, another man would pay good money to have. I guess I should learn to just
be happy with what I have.
Thanks for keeping me encouraged. Very good point with the brushing. I think you
may be spot on; the possibilities change from one week to the next. I’ll work
on the brushing techniques for the next few weeks and see if it takes me
through this phase.
you all for keeping me on track!
