I salute you!
What an incredibly kind, encouraging and knowledgeable bunch you all are. I am amazed at the support you offer everyone entering your fascinating world of beard growing.
44 y/o – never tried to grow a beard – always wished I could. Usually keeping a stubble, trimmed back to a few millimetres, just to keep up the illusion.
Just as convinced as the next insecure first timer that I’ll never be able to grow a decent full beard, but gaining hope from many success stories on this board. Patchy slow grower, but with age coverage seems to be getting slightly better. My assumption always was that if I tried to grow a beard I’d look like the proverbial homeless guy (no disrespect intended).I guess I have a few advantages:
I am greying – to say the least. Used to be light blond, and now have facial hair colours across the board; black, white, grey, red, blond, which is fine.
And, I’m too old to really care if people think I look ridiculous (within reason) as long as I can live with the way I look (…and providing the Mrs. is on board…the jury’s still out on that one…)As for styles, time will tell what’s possible. I’m open to suggestions.
I understand that growing for an average of 13 weeks is the start and will often reveal surprising results so that’s what I’ll try and achieve. Probably more will be required in my case due to the sparse growth and light colour. I will try to attach a few pics from around the 2-week mark. For now, I would be grateful for any comments and advice. I’m not easily offended so just lay it on me.So, Gents, do you think there’s something we can work with?
