Well my full beard is done with, I trimmed it down ALOT to a different style. I included a pic of right before I trimmed it (7.5 weeks) brushed down. While I
did enjoy having the full beard, all the compliments I had when it was shorter changed to negative stuff at work and at home with the added length. That stuff
really didn't bother me that much, but it got me concerned because i am just starting to date again, and if it is going to close doors for me in the dating
world than it is not worth it. Once I am in a stable relationship I will try to grow one again. One thing i was surprised at is that it took alot more
maintanance than I thought it would. My facial hair started to get really curly and scruffed out, and it took alot of combing. My beard wasn't very low
maintanance at all, and i had to keep it in check because of work. Also the hair growing over my lip bothered me alot more than I thought it would, I guess I
just wasn't used to it. The current style I am trying is the goat with a very short beard with a high neckline. The full curly beard made my round face
appear even rounder, and I think leaving the short side beard will lengthen it? All comments are appreciated.

You pull off both styles perfectly bro! The full beard was awesome, and your current style looks great!!!

You made a very smart decision. Tailor made for you. Just the right amount of goat and beard.
How did you come up with this combination? The goat + short beard + higher neckline definitely lengthens your face and takes away the rounded appearance. It's a look that I may try some time in the future. |

Can't say that the two-tone beard really appeals to me personally. It suggests unfinished business. Have you considered giving the sides of your beard
quite a deep carve-out and then letting the remaining portion catch up a bit with your goatee? It might be another way of avoiding too rounded an appearance.
Keep growing. Stay bearded! wulff |

IMO the full beard looked better but that doesn't mean i don't think the trim looks great too. the style change was of sound reasoning. You have
basically perfect growth too man! it's good to see you left the short beard too.

I also think that both look great, but the full beard in the first picture is pretty much picture-perfect from the side. Expertly outlined. Sorry you found it
to be too much maintenance, but it really does suit you. Keep us posted on what you do. Just don't shave everything.

Your final 7.5 week beard was very impressive, you have amazing coverage and very dense stubble so you ended up with a very thick, full beard. I am very
envious of what you achieved there. I was surprised though to hear that it involved so much maintenance. As for the new style, I like that too, and I hope you
will let the chin grow a bit longer yet before you start trimming it.

I like your later style, and I agree, it helps slim your face a bit.

Thanks all for the comments. I like the way it looks now, and it is alot less maintenance, but I am getting mixed responses at work just like on this forum.
Some people like it, but alot of the women I work with think I should just leave the goatee. I think Wulff might be right that some people can view it as
unfinished, but I think I will stick with this for a while and let it lengthen. I was also thinking of trying something goofy later and making an odd sort of
van dyke where I would leave the moustache, shave the connectors and soul patch, and trim the chin hair so that it forms a rectangle lengthwise. It would be a
"rectangle beard" instead of a circle beard lol! I might try it for fun at the end of the season. =)

Mike,
Your full beard was excellent. I find it strange that you had a negative response to the extra length when your beard was still quite short and had a very classic full beard appearance. You also maintained it well and it looked very professional. In regards to your new style I don't like it as much as the full beard but I still think it looks good. If the sides have a chance to fill in a bit, I think people will see it as more of a finished style. I could see a carved full beard also looking good on you.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else. That beard looks good for you. Great choice.

Very dense growth at 29. The full beard with everything at one length looks cool, but I can see why you did a goat-n-stache with side scruff. The contrast
between the scruff and grown out 'stached goatee seems to add a slick and stylish look to the overall bearded appearance.

Well I did some more chopping. I had a fun style in mind I wanted to try, and since I have dense hairs on my higher cheek areas (yet my stache is thin,
opposite of most people, weird) , I think I could pull it off. It is something I imagine a biker would wear. I just had it for one evening and shaved it. It
is not really my style and it would go over horribly with my bosses at the hospital (plus I might scare the patients LOL!). I then cut it to a goat, but I am
still really underwhelmed with my connectors. The last pic is what I am currently wearing and plan to keep it for a bit. Any comments are appreciated.

I think you're making too much out of the connectors....they look perfectly fine to me. Lots of guys (including myself) do not have strong connectors, but
if you let them grow for awhile, they'll blend in well.
My favorite style for you is the full even beard, followed by the circle beard. The current van-dyke looks all right too. I'm not a big fan of what you call the "biker style".

The full beard and circle beard are the best styles by far, in my opinion

Haha, Beard experimentation for the win! I prefer the "circle beard".

Dude, great density and coverage. Excellent beard, particularly if you let it grow for another couple weeks/months.
