I joined this forum in 2006 when I was 22 years old. I just turned 32. My beard has seen some improvements since then but for 10 years, I was seriously expecting to have a full density beard by now. Yes, I've noticed some more hairs on my cheeks and connectors since that time, but not much. In fact, in these past 2 years, I haven't noticed ANYTHING. It looks exactly the same as 2 years ago. At this rate of improvement, I will have a full coverage beard at 70 years old. I have seriously given up on beards, which is why I don't visit this forum anymore. I usually just shave or keep 2 day stubble to save money and be done with it. I'm a perfectionist and my beard is simply too patchy for my liking. I can't stand it, so I don't grow it.
I've been thinking about giving minoxidil a try, but I've read many negative things about it. First of all, there is no guarantee that you will see results, and even if you do, there is no guarantee they will be permanent. This is a systemic medication, which has been proven to reduce collage production, which accelerates skin aging. I've read on multiple forums where people complain of skin aging, dark circles, bloated face, etc after using minoxidil. It cannot be a coincidence that so many people are reporting it. It also increase blood pressure, which is not good at all. My blood pressure is already on high end of normal.
I always wanted a beard transplant, but after doing research, I feel like there is no guarantee this will be also permanent. Also, if I were to get it, everyone would find out, because you will have a big shaved bald spot on the back of your head, its impossible to hide.
It doesn't help the fact that now everyone and their mother has a beard, like literally, you can go outside, and 8 out 10 guys, have some facial hair. They all think they look sexy and alpha with it lol. I seriously can't wait for this hipster beard fad to die out. I suppose it all started because it was the only way for men to feel like they are still a man, in a world where women gain more and more power. Since building muscle is very difficult and takes many years, the fastest and easiest way to separate yourself from women, is to grow a beard.
