I'd half-expect that a gale would lift you clear off the ground and I'd see you sailing over the Sierra Nevada Mountains on your way over to Utah. I also wonder if you now have to turn sideways to get your beard through a doorway. Nothing but admiration for it here.

Thank you Rino, imaginary, jbg86, MileHigh, Wannabe Beard, baldbandit, Rene, Walkman, Justin, and MetalMungos! That sweater was quite the project and it’s nice to have it done. I was really worried that after all that work it wouldn’t fit! What’s funny is that I regularly got comments or questions as I was working on it from people thinking I was knitting my beard
I suppose ‘long’ is relative, Dave. I know I have a big beard by most any standard but it’s just not big enough, yet! Thank you, sir.
Wow, Avenue Whiskers, thank you! That would, indeed, be an awesome group, and with the likes of you there I’d be in mighty fine company! I’m not sure about ‘monumental’ though. At the beard competition in Austin last weekend long beards were anything over 12 inches, so who knows what would classify as monumental!
One man’s curse is another man’s wish sometimes, Trick.. And just how do you know it didn’t look fabulous with all those little black pearls delicately suspended among the locks? As for steak, been there, done that
As always, Alberto, you leave me at a loss for words. Thank you. By the way, I believe I read on another thread that you’re in Colombia. Where? I go there occasionally to judge orchids (Armenia, Popoyan). It’s a glorious place and the Colombians are among the most gracious people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. Now I know where you get it.
Whoa, thank you, Shane. In all seriousness it’s not a beard I ever dreamt of wearing, at least not before finding this board, but I’d be dishonest if I didn’t say I’m thrilled that it’s what I have and that I mustered the nerve to just let it grow.
Hey, FP, I’m glad someone appreciates my taste, or lack thereof, in footwear Thank you!
Thank you, IronBearden, for that and for stopping by. It’s my pleasure.
Gordon, by the time you get three years of growth my beard will look like a mere gerbil beside yours! Be prepared! Thank you!
Thank you, sir. What you don’t see, Ol Grizz, are the sweaters I’ve ripped out or are still languishing in bags on the yarn shelf. Sometimes it’s best to just put it aside and let it age a bit. There’s no shame in picking up something else while you let that one sit.
Thanks, Mike! I am excited, too, that it’s still growing. As for the pics, well, using a good camera helps!
Hey, Marsh, that really means a lot. I always worry that my beard looks unkempt or dirty, so I work hard to make sure it isn’t, and hopefully dispel the big beard = laziness stereotype.
Pickled herring? Did someone say pickled herring? I am convinced that it, as my father would have said, will put hair on your chest, or face in this case. Ever since visiting Iceland for the first time in 2008 pickled herring and cottage cheese has been my breakfast of choice Thank you, Bill.
Challenge accepted, Triibeard! Thank you! I don’t think I’d get very far though. Too many trees in Oregon
Cheers!
Tom

Justin R wrote:Hey Tom, while I truly do like that sweater, my comment about your avatar was more in reference to how your beard takes up roughly 60% of the frame. Maybe it's the angle but it looks enormous!
