I think they're cool especially if they're allowed to grow untrimmed. Mine seems to take a little while to develop from a clean shave but once it grows
out, it completes whatever look I'm striving for.
I however am not a fan of soul patch-less beards or goatees. Ew. |

i can't imagine my facial hair without it.
mine usually grows long enough to make the transition into the other hairs, becoming an integral part. it's also essential for manly moments of reflection and contemplation where some hair is needed to twist. |

I like soul patches, partly because I can't really grow one yet. Though I do get more and more hairs under the lip each year. So I guess it's itching
to pop out. My dad has a great soul patch with his beard, that he carves into different shapes from time to time.
I think the single soul patch is an excellent style. Sometimes I can't help associate that type of beard with the catchphrase "Deal or no deal?" popularized by the "soul patchiod" Howie Mandel:
Beards in olden times, were the emblems of wisdom and piety.
-Thomas Babington Macaulay There's no wrong way to sport a beard, just like there's no wrong way to eat a Reece's. -Danko

I had a good friend in college with long hair, soul patch, and Les Paul guitar. This dude rocked it!

I think soul patches fit in nicely with other facial hair but I don't like them standalone.
Sadly the soulpatch is the only area of my full beard that doesn't grow. |

I hada soul patch for awhile. I remember that olympic speed skater apolla ono had one and everyone was rocking them for a bit after his gold metal wins.

I think soul patches are cool. They remind me of jazz. I sported one when I was about 18 before the rest of my beard started to develop. Then I moved on to a
stache and patch, once my stache started to come in stronger. One of my friends dubbed it the "Rob Roy" because there is some historical painting
(which I've never seen) where that Scottish figure is depicted with the same. If I am forced to pare down for a job where I have to wear a respirator, I
may sport a stache and a large soul patch, what I call the "Quigley" after Tom Selleck's movie character from the 90's. (I think the stache
and patch style is also referred to as the "Musketeer.") My dad trims his goatee down that way once in a while. It looks pretty cool except that he
keeps his stache trimmed way shorter than I would.
