I just turned 16 and I want a beard that covers the jaw line and connects to sideburns. (i don't know what it's called. Chin curtain? i don't know.) Anyway, i keep trying to grow it out, but i always end up shaving. (i keep thinking about that "shaving makes facial hair grow back faster and thicker" thing, is that true?) There are many names for this excellent style that Abraham Lincoln and the Amish have helped popularize. Shaving doesn't influence any hair growth. If you shave your head, the hair will grow back and look like it did before, right? It's the same thing with beards. Only nature evolves a man's beard as he gets older. One way to keep yourself from shaving is to avoid looking at your beard in the mirror for the first month or two. Observe it and admire it once it has had time to fill in. Also, don't be too hard on yourself through the process. We are our own worst critics. The Chin Curtain is a good choice and was my very first style. I wish you good luck, young brother. But, one day, I saw that week of stubble and said, with resolve "I'm going to grow a beard". And, honestly, telling myself that made all the difference between just seeing what would grow and making a concerted effort to let it grow. Don't be discouraged!

That's the distance you will be looked at from other people mostly anyway. I still don't like the look of my beard up close and I probably never will.

Think of not having to, just leaving it, forgetting you even grow hair on your face, do it! I just plan on being lazy and not shaving, but I've never been one to shave regularly, I hate it so the most regular I shave if ever is probably every weekend or something lol
