Beard Board Members:
If you think the virtual beard community, like me, is a great thing, experiencing it in 'real time' is even better.
I know not every one has the resources to make it to the World Beard & Moustache Championships and for many just making it to Alaska is a one in a
lifetime event. I was accompanied by my wife & it was also our 7 year wedding anniversary trip. In addition, before going I searched the internet for a road race & found the T/W Glacier Half Marathon to run as
well.
Here are some of the highlights which including meeting many BCBB (http://www.beardcommunity.com) members in person (Aarne, LarryD, Aldon) & also meeting many other internet beard icons as well. I was really impressed with the American Beard Clubs who made the trip from Detroit, Jacksonville, Austin, & North Carolina. There is a growing grassroots movement across the country in this regard. Get involved at the local level if you can.
- visiting the Native Heritage Museum
- welcoming bbq hosted by the South Central Alaska Beard & Moustache Club at Kincaid Park
- beard parade through downtown Anchorage
- the Alaska Grizzly Beard contest
- the WBMC contest itself
- excursion to Portage Lake, Alaska Wildlife Center, & Crow Creek Mine.
I am attaching some pictures, enjoy! More to come! http://www.myspace.com/holycitybeardsociety
