This will definitely be quite an event as I hope my fellow Alaskans can attend and perhaps participate if you feel you can compete, otherwise I'd expect it
to be a great experience. There is also the World Beard Championships link to refer to: http://www.worldbeardchampionships.com/

You are correct GK and we are seeking out a unique group of Judges for the Championships. Iditarod mushers Martin Buser-formally of Switzerland and Dee Dee
Jonrowe and others to be listed on the judges link at :
World Beard and Moustache Championships - Hosted by SCAKBMCFor the first time we have groups from Australia and Canadians attending. Alaska host many old believer Russians who are rumored to be interested in the event as well. Magadan is not that far so its a possibility that some may come from Russia. This goes well with our 59th year of local whisker competitions to be held March 7th, 2009 at the Miners & Trappers Ball.

Cheers from South Central Alaska! Wow! Our state has been getting lots of attention lately. I'm not used to that. Though our Alaskan Beard Championships
seem to be well known anyway. Of course the competition isn't just for Alaskans as Fur Face says.
I think it would be cool to participate at the Beard Competition since it's right in my back yard (Anchorage-ite future sourdough here) but I feel that I must wait for my beard to mature a bit more. Those are some awesome beards! It's great that Alaska has such a strong beard history. It makes it that much easier to sport our whiskers here. Happy "Bearding" all...Alaskan style!

Can't wait for Alaska! My wife & I are making it our anniversary trip (every girls dream I know). For those of you who feel like your whiskers are
not competition level, etc, come on out regardless for some great fun & friendship. Everyone is welcome. What I love about beards is all the styles &
varieties.
NYC Beard & Moustache Championships will be in March, so that will be fun as well. |

Holy Beard Society- Great job in maintaining an excellent super length fullbeard. Tug-able lengths are awesome!
I don't think I'll participate yet, but perhaps I'll just go there to check it out. Not sure yet. I have never been to the Alaskan FurFace Competition yet. Where many have to travel miles and miles to get there, I would only have to drive several blocks. Have a blast in Alaska, Bro. You should visit this state in the summer sometime. That's the shortest season, but my favorite. I have never really enjoyed the winters up here, but won't leave because of the fact that most of my family on both sides live here. Just to warn you, day and night is quite different up here. That's something you guys from the lower 48 aren't used to. We lose hours of day light in the winter, then gradually gain it back in the spring. By June, it hardly gets dark at all. Maybe FurFace will continue to go on this board. I think so far I'm the only other Alaskan member. lol. Though I'm not sure if the FurFace account was made for advertising, or if this is an actual person who signed up.

I know FurFace has been here before, and so welcome back. I know with the NYC event now in less than a month away, I will try to make a conscientious effort to
go there, but with family and school obligations in the way that may get a bit challenging. One way or another I look forward to these events.

Sadly working on the championship for many of us has become almost a full time job as we prepare for what we hope a good time for everyone.
Internet posting is a luxury right now. |

Argh. I live right on the Canadian border in Washington state, but I just can't make it. Lots of pictures must be taken!
