Beard Friendly Posts: 11 (04/08/08 15:45:36) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None Hi all , i'm 18 years old and want to shave my beard for the first time but some ppl tells me that the spaces that don't have hair...will not grow ( or wont grow normally ) and some says the skin will harmed cus its young and it wont grow ( or wont grow normally ) i have a some short hair on my chine and light hair on my cheeks.. with spaces that don't have hair yet ( i mean not completed ) so i don't know what to do ?? - Still till it is completed and shave it ? - Don't use a razor and use a machine ( i'm afraid that will harm too ?? )? - Shave it now ? - other ? lol another thing ... after shaving shall i use a perfume or it will harm the skin ? If that were the case, then nearly all of us would have patchy beards because nearly everyone shaves as soon as they have some visible growth. It is possible, though, that I don't fully understand what you are trying to say...perhaps you can join the Chat room sometime and try to explain to one of us old guys what you are concerned about Patience shall be rewarded!

Your advisors, unfortunately, don't know what they are talking about. Get advice here...we've had a lot of experience and have heard stories from guys of all (shaving) ages. Patience shall be rewarded!

As frequently or infrequently as you want! You don't need to ask other people's opinions on how you should look...it's a personal decision. If you can cultivate some facial hair now that looks ok, why not try it rather than shave it all off? If not, then perhaps in a year or two when you have more to work with? Patience shall be rewarded!

If you are genetically targeted to have a full beard it will be there, trust me!! I started shaving early before I really had any whiskers other than my peach fuzz and my beard grew in just fine. The standard recommendation is to shave "with the grain": that is, in the direction of the hair growth. However, some guys, especially those with heavy beards, find that they do not get a close enough shave unless they shave first with and then against the grain. That being said, shaving against the grain can, for some, lead to soreness and ingrowing hairs. The only tricky part is under the jaw and neck area where the grain may vary considerably. In that area, just shave whatever way is most comfortable and in some cases that may mean going over the spot in different directions to get the whiskers shaved completely. Patience shall be rewarded!
