I have been treating my beard area with capsaicin solution ,it is too early to make any conclusions, but I am very confident that capsaicin will act as a hair growth stimulant.
My source of capsaicin is the Red Savina pepper(the Dominican Devil's Tongue Pepper/Capsicum chinense) it is a very hot chili, ten times hotter than cayenne.I bought fresh chilis, sliced and dried them after which I poured the chili flakes in a jar and added 50% alcohol (100% would be better) just to cover the flakes.then I let it soak for two weeks and poured the liquid to an empty minoxidil bottle.
The capsaicin solution I made was too hot for me so I mixed it with minoxidil, half a bottle of each.
My method of making the solution is maybe bit difficult but at least it is safe, compared to using pure capsaicin.

I do not remember if anyone has tried petroleum jelly to enhance minoxidil absorbtion but it would be interesting to know if it gives better results.
According to Wikipedia.
it has been found that using petroleum jelly or tretinoin on the scalp with minoxidil can cause too much of the drug absorption by the scalp, as can using the drug on sunburned scalps.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minoxidil
Best wishes.
Kaappo.
