reg555, just read the main thread up top, this question is answered literally *100* times. conclusion is, since the makeup of facial hair follicles and facial
hair in general is different from hair on your scalp, that is damaged and won't regrow. you are using minox to awaken dormant hair follicles, so once they
start growing, they won't stop. the reason why hair on your scalp, if you're balding, stops growing after you stop using minox, is because those
follicles were damaged to begin with.
of course there are exceptions to every rule, just as you would read some people on the big thread have had their facial hair stop growing, post minox. |

Hi reg55555 1,
I lost hairs on different parts of my body even though I am still using it and have used it for merely 8 months and counting. Except my chin hairs, the rest seem to dwindle with time and I dont really understand the situation. Perhaps those hairs were in telogen phase and had to shed, and so the new fine vellus hairs are still in anagen phase, will take some time to grow out I guess. |

When your hair is a thick terminal hair, like the hair on your scalp or other thick original facial hair that exists without the minox, then its hard to
imagine that strong terminal hair dropping out and lost. I think it would of been relatively established to exist and grow without the help of further
minoxodil. I think any hair that isn't terminal could shed and find it difficult to regrow without the stimulant of minoxodil. So i think (because I'm
not off the minox yet - just pressumption) that the more terminal the hair, the stronger its foundation to grow without the minoxodil.
When glassprisoner said "since the makeup of facial hair follicles and facial hair in general is different from hair on your scalp, that is damaged and won't regrow. " He means the diffrence between the frontal scalp hair and facial hair, is mainly the diffrence between the scalp hair has receptors which react to DHT, which in turn attack the hair follicle and creates a minturisation effect, leading to eventual hair loss. I diagree with the vague statement"once they start growing, they won't stop", I still see the hair needs to be gradually nurture and stimulated untill the hair is stable enough to be self sufficient to grow. I mean, wack minox on for a month, you'll get some fuzz but your hair won't continue to grow if u suddenly stop, requires a period of stimulation/nurturing. "if you're balding, stops growing after you stop using minox, is because those follicles were damaged to begin with" Well, this is more due to the fact that...remember minox is a vasodilator so it allows blood flow to the hair stimulating growth...once you are off minox on the scalp, remember there is still this continual presence of DHT attaching itself to the receptors of the scalp hair, so once again this DHT repeats itself attacking... constricting the blood flow to your hair follicles, suffercating and reducing the hair growth...once again causing this minutrisation affect and eventual hair loss on the scalp again. Glassprisoner, your conclusion was your hairs will keep growing, yet there are exceptions to the rule. I think this occassional exception is what reg55555 1 is interested in, he wants to know how common and dramatic it can be on the beard when coming off. He wants self assurance, why do these exceptions occur and how often. Beardcraving I think your right about the telogen to anagen phase. Yes, a clearer explanation and insight is I think the reason why you lost hairs around your body is because, when you first apply minox, you probably incurred indirect stimulation through the blood onto other body hairs too. Your other body hairs would be at a resting phase, and the effects of the minox would of stimulated the phase, shifted to the next phase where the hair drops out...and then in time the phase after... regrows again. The stimulation was enough to shift the phase up one, but not sufficient enough to push the phase to the re-growth phase, if its at that phase, its occuring really really slow. Direct application of minox should definitly see new re-growth quicker.
