And I did ask for her permission, she'll let me grow it out for however long as I want as llong as I shave the neck. But you do live under your parents' roof, therefore you should want to follow their rules.

I'd tell my mom my beard goals, and then ask her permission to achieve the goal and ask for her support. She might be flattered by your asking permission and asking for her support, and be more flexible.

Doesn't hurt to try.
