What's up all? I'm 30 and new to this board and I've finally decided to make some changes in my personal appearance. Most of the
time I don't shave but once a week out of laziness because my work is cool with it and I've never had anything shaped because of the perceived
maintenance. I just had minor surgery on my head and I'm going bald anyway, so I decided to shave that all off. I have to wait to get my stitches out to
shave it again, but the attached picture shows...

Your beard is going to be awesome. I think it's too early yet to do maintenance. Since your whiskers seem fully mature, I would just wait 2 more weeks, and
then start trimming.

There is always the circle beard a.k.a. goatee and mustache that seems to be sported by many head shaven guys, but that doesn't make the full beard
impossible as you can plainly see by Sleepy's look.

Sleepy seems to have hit the target on the shaved head and full bearded profile. So you...

Sleepy - Thanks for the pics. That gives me a decent idea of where to cut the neckline. I looked in the mirror and I think I'm gonna use a line from the
edge of my eye back to the junction where my ear meets my head for the sideburns. That's also the line that the arm of my glasses follows so it doesn't
look too bad. Since I have to have the 4 eyes I might as well use them as a shaving guide! I'll post a better pic with my real camera once I shape
everything up. I think...

Everyone has given you good advice . . . no need to repeat it, but as a head shaver and beard grower I can tell you how I go about it. I just bring the trimmer
across the top of my ear horizontally. Somehow the line always ends up a bit lower than I think it will, but it works for me. The first time I tried it I just
put the edge of the trimmer where I wanted the line to be and shaved upwards -- that was a mistake. The line was totally mangled and uneven. But if you bring
it across...

Welcome to the beard board.

While I am certainly no expert, I want to give you my opinions on your 3 questions. First, you can shave in a neckline and cheekline anytime, but the longer
you wait the easier it is. Second, A bald head and full beard looks great. If it was me, I would the ear as a guide and not the glasses (the ear is always on
your head). And then lastly, any style you choose will be fine, just get bearded.<img...

Jake - Thanks for the feedback. I think I can trim up the cheek lines OK as miraculously they're actually pretty symmetrical thanks to the genes. My
neckline is a mess and there is none right now. I've read some of the pointers and think I can handle shaping it as a U. I have to go to a social get

Hey, I'm new here too. I can't give as good advice as the pros here but in regard to point 2, if you look around here, there are some guys who have
shaved heads and full beards so their pictures may give you a good idea where to stop the sideburns. In terms of shaping it up already, I'd say that the
cheeklines look pretty good naturally; it is hard to see the neckline and I think that whether you do that now or later is a matter of opinion but if so there
is advice here on doing...
