Greetings,

So after my original posting (see beard attempt 3 weeks) and the responses I began experimenting with some products to soften the beard. As a result I've landed on something I'm really happy with and it's home made!

- Take a small bottle (I used a thoroughly washed spice bottle).
- Fill 2/3 with water (preferably warm)
- Add roughly 1/3 oil (I used coconut)
- Spray a few bursts of your favourite cologne into the bottle.

Beard attempt 3 weeks

So, I was on holidays and got a little lazy with shaving (o.k. a lot lazy) and this has been the result so far. Only 3 weeks in and if what I've read is true (which it almost certainly is) I've got another 3-5 weeks before it reaches its full potential. I have never been able to grow any more than a strand or two on my cheeks (what you see is pretty much the natural hairline), but I think I prefer the look of it anyway. I shaved the neckline this morning as I'm returning to work...

Ive always thought about growing a beard but never actually had the guts to do it.
I used to go through the same routine every time i had a week off work,not shave,begin growing and then shave it all off the night before i went back. This time i didn't.

Hey, I'm almost at 3 weeks. I'm finding that my blond hair is growing straight out and you can see through it. I was wondering how long it takes until facial hair usually "lies down" ? Shave neckline if growing long beard?

Hello - I've been growing this beard for about a month or a bit longer, and I have been shaving the neckline. I want to grow the beard out about four inches or so, maybe a bit longer. Should I stop shaving the neckline and let the neck hair grow? I'm wondering if it will help make a longer beard look fuller. I'm 24 and have never attempted to grow my beard out. I've usually left it stubbly because I hate shaving and out of mere laziness. I'm on a month holiday from work (teaching) and have let it grow out. It's time to go back to work now and am concerned with what to do with it. Are the different mustache styles one can grow determined by genetics or it is just a matter of trimming, styling, and patience? I would like to grow a mustache similar to the one in the picture but when I have let it grow it looks more like a walrus mustache. I know I don't have anywhere near as much coverage on my upper lip as the guy on the left but is it still possible for me to grow a mustache similar to his? Or do I just have to wait and hope mine becomes more dense with age?

Since I play lacrosse and workout, how does sweat and one's beard interact?

My name is Rusty, I'm 23 and have recently become dedicated to the idea of growing out my first full beard. Beard pattern problem

Hi guys im new to this site but its really good i found it. Im 19 and have the potential to grow my beard fully however my beard pattern is not regular. My side burns run down however around my jaw area the hair pattern goes in a circular loop and starts to grow in an outward circular motion up to my cheeks from this circle near my jaw area.

This happens on both sides of my face and looks really stupid when it grows large as there are two obvious big circles of hair on either side...
